oh, jesus
Regardless of the way you lean politically, how strong your views are concerning the past election or your feelings about the president elect the following should make you so mad that you want to kick someone in the nuts. Diantha Harris, a middle school teacher in Cumberland Country, N.C decided to have a class discussion about the election. She put the question of who they were pulling for to her class then proceeded around the glass for the student’s answers.
Student: Obama.
Harris: You pulling for Obama. Who you pulling for?
Student: Obama.
Harris: Any of you pulling for John McCain? That’s fine, say him as well.
Student: Obama.
Student: Obama.
Student: McCain.
Harris: John, oh lord, John McCain.
Harris: Oh, Jesus.
[Cathy, the daughter of an American soldier answers McCain.]
Harris: Oh, Jesus.
Ok, now I wanna ask you something.
Why are you pulling for John McCain? It’s ok, but why are you pulling for John McCain?
Cathy: I think it’s because my parents are going for him too.
Harris then continues around the class room until one student says the reason they were pulling for Obama was because of the war in Iraq. Getting the answer she obviously waiting for, she approvingly says;
Harris: So in other words, Barack is going to end the war in Iraq. What do you all know about the war in Iraq?
She then addresses Cathy directly, the young girl who said she was pulling for McCain, and says;
Harris: Talk, because you daddy is in the military. Talk. It’s a senseless war! And by the way, Cathy, the person that you’re picking for president said that our troops could stay in Iraq for another hundred years if they need to!
[Camera pans to Cathy, in near tears.]
Harris: So that means that your daddy could stay in the military for another hundred years!
What this woman has done is reprehensible and she should be sacked immediately. Teachers have a responsibility to teach our children in a fair and impartial way and this woman has betrayed a trust that should be sacrosanct by force feeding her views to a young, impressionable girl. Cathy’s Mom and Dad aside, if I were a parent of one of these children I would be in the principal’s office pounding on the desk so fast his toupee would be sitting askew. It makes you wonder what else this cow is she teaching these kids? That the holocaust never happened and Hitler was just kidding? That the moon landing was just a fancy Spielberg production? That the earth is really flat?
Another point worth mentioning is that when one of the children responded that the reason they supported Obama was because he’s black all they got was an approving nod. If we consider it good practice to vote based on someone’s color then there is not hope for any of us.
In a later interview this child bully resplendent in her Obama ’08 button perched on one of her huge knockers said she can support whoever she wants to as long as she doesn’t browbeat another person for their choice. What the hell do you think you did, Diantha? Maybe as a teacher you might want to pick up a dictionary and read the definition of browbeat. Take off those friggin’ blinders and think of someone other than yourself, maybe the young and impressionable minds you are responsible for?
